I'm sorry to inform you that you WILL NOT be able to repair this yourself, due to the fact that removal and installation requires use of a special inner tie rod socket dedicated specifically for this repair. You will also need to have a front end alignment done once the part is installed.I have a for taurus se,and the inner tie rod broke off.i have the part and need to know how to change it.?
Tie rods aren't that difficult to replace. Providing you can get hold of any special tooling you may need. You just need to look at the assembly really well, and get a good idea of what it looks like before you start. You will need a good socket set, and maybe a set of box end wrenches, a couple of sturdy flat balde screwdrivers, a pair of large pliers, or two, a hammer, a roll of string, and a couple of jack stands. A creeper would be good for rolling in and out from under the car, too.

Jack the front of the car up, and secure it with the jack stands. Locate the broken part, and remove it. There may be some washers bent up against the sides of the bolts holding the tie rod ends on, so use the screwdrivers to pry them away from the bolts. Flatten them out the best you can with the pliers. Remove the bolts, and tap the ends out with the hammer. Replace the parts with the new ones, and adjust the tie rod ends to align the front wheels with the back ones using the string. Stretch the string from the back tires ( get someone to help hold the string at the back tires) to the front tires. Set the steering wheel straight, and climb back under the car. Turn the tie rod adjusters untill the front tires are as straight in line with the back tires as you can. You can tell they are straight when the string touches the outsides of the tires both front and back. There shouldn't be any gaps on either tire.Tighten up all the bolts, and take it to be professionally aligned. Otherwise you will wear out your tires. The string method works good enough to get you to the mechanic's. I can't think of anything else, but you may want to get a Clymer, or a Haynes manual for the car that have some pictures to help you, and a bit more of a detailed instruction.

Good luck,

This part usually wears out instead of breaking. I would suggest getting it looked @ by a pro (after you make the repairs that you are capable of) to make sure there is not some unseen damage.

Good luck
